Water supply for a greenfield dairy facility
Chriwa Wasseraufbereitungstechnik GmbH
Chriwa supplied the complete water treatment technology for one of the most modern dairies in Europe, from the transfer of the city water to the delivery of the different desired water qualities to the interfaces within the dairy in 2021.
At the heart of the large-scale plant are the multi-stage and yield-optimized reverse osmosis systems for the treatment of the process water as well as the storage and distribution of the water required during operation. Other methods used include physical filtration, UV disinfection and a mobile dosing station.
Particularly noteworthy is the fact that the raw water has changing chemical parameters such as hardness due to the connection to two different water supply sources. Our treatment technology has to treat these waters for five different processes. The desired parameters were met by blending filtered water with reverse osmosis permeate in ratios corresponding to conductivity and hardness.
A further, highly efficient post-processing system is available to supply the steam generation.
To ensure security of supply, a redundant system design was chosen and the plant technology was planned and executed according to hygienic aspects.
The water treatment system filters primarily for the food industry and secondarily for technical water, e.g. for supplying the steam boiler or the cooling towers. To prevent cross-contamination between the waters, the system was deliberately installed with specific pipe/system separators and close to the pump groups.
The water supply of max. 650 m³/h for this completely newly built production site enables the processing of up to 800 million kilograms of milk per year into high-quality dairy products.
The complete plant technology was planned, manufactured and delivered at the Hambühren headquarters, assembled by us and put into operation in terms of process technology. To this day, we supply the company with spare parts and operating materials.
